So, Wordpress has been around for some times, people used to just install Wordpress, get some free Wordpress theme and voila, start blogging and even better, make money. Long enough I have to say, it’s time for some changes made on Wordpress theme. Recently I notice that people started to take note on categories instead of pages.

Pages, those link at the top header usually; categories, links that usually located at the sidebar. Which one more important? Why the heck is it important by the way. Now people don’t often check pages, mostly will go and check the author. To serve the visitor right, get away from using pages to tell who are you, eg: SimplyWP Tried to write a short description about author at the sidebar instead.

Basically the most important pages one will need is the contact form eh? I can’t really tells that pages is useless though, but it doesn’t need to be so significant on all pages. The best way to go would be, placing small link at the top header, then category links at bottom of header instead of sidebar. Notice some Wordpress themes are using this layout? Now, for those who earn money from their visitors, try to think about it for a moment. It is pages that visitors looking for, or the categories? And how visible and easy to navigate to your categories link?

P/S: SimplyWP is going for a small revamp soon, so expect those I mentioned here. Sometimes I gotta do something to replace my mistake

Finished two custom-made themes

Happy Tuesday! It’s Kathie writing for today. The boyfriend has been busy with the uni’s assignments hence I take over the ‘ride’ for today. Anyway, the title of this post says it all. We have finished two custom-made themes for one client.

The first theme is for My Own Utopia. The theme is originally created for my personal blog, Wiehanne Lounge, in pink color (my favorite color :P). However, the client came across my blog and liked it. So, there you go. The theme was purchased with a small changes here and there. I think this is 80% pre-made and 20% custom-made.

The client was satisfy with the theme and she wanted to have a custom-made theme for her other blog at Sasha says….

Now, we are working on a new custom-made theme. Next thing is to give this blog a whole new look and we will release the free wordpress theme soon. Subscribe here if you don’t wanna miss it.

Just for fun. Since Entrecard has been widely used by lots of bloggers, some even has a niche Entrecard content, I think it’s good to have an Entrecard theme. Although I’m not sure if anyone would be interested in it or not Anyway, here are some feature of this theme.

This is a 4 columns widget ready theme. The top column was built for Entrecard widget, which is a big box. However, it was named as Sidebar 3 on widget page.

It is recommended to use the standard 250px Entrecard widget.

It’s Friday, it’s theme day

Today marked the first week after our first free theme released. Today, it’s a different one, it’s the simplest Wordpress theme we’re making, the Simplest Blue.

This is also 3 columns theme and widget ready, tested in both Wordpress 2.5 and 2.6.
