Issue: WordPress Update failed!

Sometimes update does fail, not because of your connection or WordPress issue, it may because you accidentally click away while it is updating, or your hosting simply go offline in the middle of updating. You’ll ended up seeing a blank screen like this:

WordPress maintain

When you saw this screen, you’ll probably not able to login to your WordPress admin panel too. All you’ll see is just this blank page.

This is not a big issue, relax! Here is how to fix it!

Step 1: Fire up your FTP
Simply open your FTP and connect it to your WordPress directory.

Step 2: Setup your FTP
Make sure your FTP shows hidden files and folder, this is very important.

Step 3: Find .maintenance
Look for .maintenance, normally it will be hidden, so make sure you have Step 2 setup.

Step 4: Delete .maintenance
Simply delete the file and you should be fine.

Maintenance mode

Please note that, once you delete the file (.maintenance), you will revert back to the old version which you have not update. So you can try to update again, and this time, make sure you did not click away or the hosting doesn’t give up on you.
