simplyWP was started on July 2008 by Andrew and Kathie, a creative team of husband and wife. We release high-quality free WordPress theme and develop custom-made WordPress theme for blogs and websites.
Meet Kathie and Andrew
Andrew Wong – web architect and developer
Born and raised in Malaysia, Andrew has started to learn coding on his own since he was 14, from playing around with Geocities theme to building html table site. Andrew decided to pursue Graphic Design course majoring advertising, but he never leaves coding behind.
After the trainings and internships in ad agency, he realized that working in a top notch international ad agency isn’t his dream career. Coding and developing site is where his passion lies in.
Upon graduating, he worked in a web agency by day and worked on simplyWP by night while juggling a long-distance-relationship with Kathie. It’s not long before he chose the freelance path and got married.
Besides coding, Andrew has a great talent in drawing character. Sometimes, he will put on his designer’s cap too. Minimalist is his style.

Kathie Wiehanne – graphic and web designer
Born and raised in Indonesia, Kathie has developed her interest in drawing and art since she was a kid. But her artsy fartsy side was over-shadowed by her intellectual skill.
In 2004, she attended Graphic Design course majoring advertising, in Malaysia. That’s when she met Andrew. From him, Kathie discovered about blogging and that there was more hidden gems on the web aside from e-mail. Yeah, she was living in the cave before that. Needless to say, the nerd turn into the creative geek.
Upon graduating, she worked as a packaging designer in Indonesia and jumped into freelance field for good.
At some point of her life, she changed her blog layout more times than she posted there in a week. It rang a bell that she can actually design the layout herself and had Andrew coded it into a WordPress theme. Doh! Long story short, simplyWP was born!
